Drug Testing

DOT Drug Testing is done using HHS/SAMHSA approved laboratories.  All collections and testing are done in accordance with DOT 49 CFR Part 40 Guidelines.  All collectors are trained according to DOT Guidelines and re-certified every five years.

Non-DOT urine tests are done utilizing both laboratory and instant technologies.

Customized panel testing of 12 different commonly used drugs including:

Amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, opiates, PCP’s, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, propoxyphene, methadone, ecstasy, and oxycodone.

All lab-based drug test results are available in 24 hours unless GCMS confirmation is required which can result in an additional 48 hours of testing time.

E-Cup on-site analysis allows the testing of five common drugs:  amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, PCP’s, and opiates.  When this procedure is used, results are automatically sent to employers within 15 minutes via fax or internet.  Any non-negative specimens are sent to the laboratory for confirmation.

Hair Tests can be done to determine prior drug usage going back for three months to a year or more.  Expanded panels are available for additional drugs.  Turnaround time is less than a week.

All drug tests can be done on-site or in the clinic.

Dr. John B. Woods performs the duties of a Medical Review Officer and is certified by MROCC.  For each non-negative drug screen, the donor is contacted and interviewed to determine whether or not there is a legitimate reason why a drug is present in the specimen.  The donor’s employer is notified with the results in accordance with DOT regulations.
